Hungry Season

While this rice field may look beautiful to us, it’s bright green color symbolizes hunger to the local farmers.

What is seasonal hunger?

At planting time during February and March, the community expends all it’s resources into these fields by purchasing seeds and fertilizer, often borrowing the money. Because of the extreme poverty, there is no money left after planting.

Most community members go hungry during this time.

Seasonal hunger occurs in impoverished countries and those affected by climate change.

“No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.”
